Is there any truth in the "science" of astrology?

So, I was always a skeptic myself when regarding this, but once I saw an article in the newspapers which said that one astrologer got the award called Charles Harvey award for the big contribution to the science of astrology, and is considered to be the biggest astrologer of our time. I decided to test this out, and she was giving free readings, so if you are satisfied with her services, then you may pay next time.

Well, based on my natal chart, she guessed ALL things correctly. Even some things which are very hard to guess (and I didn't a live consultation, She is not from my country so she sent me the interpretation via e-mail)

She even guessed that my mother had an operation, and she predicted my death of brain cancer for july 2013!

Is this all random, is it bullshit, or I should trust that? How valuable is astrology?

My mother has had multiple operations. I'm not sure why you listed you dying next year of a disease you don't have as a 'hit'. She's just making up crap, and you obviously want to believe it. That's how astrology works - they make stuff up and then you look through it and try to make it fit your life. There's no science involved at all; it's a load of crap and always has been. And that will be the case no matter how many times you post this question.

If you want to know the truth, conduct strict testing. The truth demands to be tested. Blind belief lets you ignore any evidence. Edit @ Spirit: Not one person will claim science is 100% right. It's simply the best we have. What else can you use that can separate fact from fantasy better than science? Find one area, just one, where astrology clearly does anything better than random chance? Astrology can't beat out randomness or clear up the contradictions in it's own usage. Edit: Which type astrology has "merit" overall? Everyone contradicts the other, that is a major weakness. What do you choose, the one that says the most positives statements? There are no patterns just selection bias. Also astrology is still "fortune telling" is it not? The birth chart is a prop for a psychic that is called an astrologer. The desire to know the future is it's primary use and that is really what is wanted. How well does any type of astrology do this task? Compared to other fortune telling if one is looking for accuracy? For personality the best it can do is tell you what you already know. That is not predicting the future. I understand why astrology is popular. It makes money. Lots of commercial websites start you for free but want you to spend money on everything else. Something else would take it's place if it did not. Does astrology make other types of divination automatically viable or possibly better? It's total BS. My mom has had an operation too, it's very common. There are no real psychics. None.

astrology is NOT science.

IN terms of science it is worthless...but for those who are looking for mythical answers to lifes concerns then it apparently has meaning -- many women live by it on a daily basis, as for men, not so much.
