it has been pointed out that change would take place quicker in small populations



in large ones the change "breeds back to the norm" easily



but if there is only a small clan, all the cousins and siblings would carry that gene and there would be nobody else to mate with



notice in very small tribes, villages, etc almost everybody is related to everybody else, what choice do they have?
