Is it okay to drink a canned beverage that has been sitting in the sun?

Question

Like sitting in the sun for several days. What are the possibly ill effects? I've heard about things leaching into the drink. Is it ok to drink?

If you don't know anything, please don't answer. I'm not after some flippant attempt at being witty; I'm seeking actual answers.

Personally I would be hesitant to try it. These canned drinks are not made with this in mind. Yes, I have heard that chemicals from the can will react with the liquids inside and this sounds feasible to me.

Anything in an aluminum can is subject to elements of the aluminum getting into the drink. Being exposed to heat just makes a bad situation that much worse.
