7 3/4 is bigger, because the denominator of the fraction is a smaller number.

Think of it as sections of a pizza or pie or whatever. In order to get that 3/4, you have to split the pizza into four. For 5/8, you have to split it between 8.

The smallest denominator is the largest size. Sometimes it's the opposite or what you think.

Hope this makes sense!

7 3/4 because that = 7 6/8. 7 6/8 is more than 7 5/8

3/4 * 2/2 = 6/8.

From this you can see that 7 3/4 = 7 6/8, which is clearly bigger than 7 5/8

easy way to do this is DIVIDE the numerator (top number int he fraction) by the denominator (buttom number). which ever is bigger in decimal form is your answer....

So 3 divided by 4 = .75 so thats 7.75 (when you add the 7)

and 5 divided by 8 = .625 which is 7.625 (when u add the 7)

So 7 and 3/4 is bigger!
