Aluminum foil, (sometimes called tin foil) is a good conductor of heat and electricity. It is a metal. It is a poor insulator.

Science Teacher is right in that it's a good electrical conductor. However, it is a good heat insulator because it reflects infra-red (IR) radiation. The IR radiation bounces off it readily.

When my students made home-made coolers to keep an ice cube from melting, tin foil (aluminum foil) was used to wrap the outside of the coolers to reflect off the IR radiation.
