Reincarnation, literally "to be made flesh again", as a doctrine or mystical belief, holds the notion that some essential part of a human being (or in some interpretations, any living being) can survive death in some form, with its integrity partly or wholly retained, to be reborn in a new body. This part is often referred to as the Spirit or Soul, the 'Higher or True Self', 'Divine Spark', 'I' or the 'Ego' (not to be confused with the ego as defined by psychology).

In such beliefs, a new personality is developed during each life in the physical world, based upon past integrated experience and new acquired experiences, but some part of the being remains constantly present throughout these successive lives as well. It is usually believed that there is interaction between predeterminism of certain experiences, or lessons intended to happen during the physical life, and the free-will action of the individual as they live that life.

Re-incarnation is when your physical body expires (dies) but your spirit or soul is reborn into another physical body. Many eastern religions hold to this belief as do many of the Wiccan practices and Witches. Normaly the souls memory is "wiped clean" and starts anew. However there has been cases in India where a child has memories of their past life. Science today is looking into children that are called "indigo children". These kids are said to have a higher level of spirituality and have memories of past lives. The term to be reborn refers to being "born again" a Christian term meaning accepting jesus as a saviour. That has no place in re-incarnation. Jesus was supposedly risen from the dead thus being "reborn" he did not change his body he just woke up. Whether or not you believe in reincarnation depends on your personal beliefs. Have you ever been someplace for the first time and felt that you have been there before? Its the De'javou factor. Personally I do believe in it as I have been around 4 times on the earth so far.

Reincarnation is different from rebirth. Re incarnation is when a soul finds another physical body to manifest. John dies and Phillip is born, and vaguely remembers he was John before becoming Phillip. Rebirth is when dead person re borns as the same person with all the memories and looks and all the lot. Though there are evidence for reincarnation, there is no evidence for rebirth except in religious texts. Many people who propose re-incarnation as a possibility ignore alternative possibilities and explanations. this is not to say that reincarnation not there (Ian Stevenson and Titus Rivas and others have done lots of research on this topic with valid arguments), but to say that evidence is not strong enough to be considered seriously. Maybe we will be able to prove either way one day with lot more data and mechanisms etc. So you are advised to suspend judgment till these are available.

I think it means your soul comes back in another body. No you don't remember all your past life you are reborn with wisdom.
