For a few years I lived in a house on the Romney Marshes, a very desolate area of S.E. England. At night you could hear the marshes making very spooky sucking and bubbling sounds as well as frogs and other night calling creatures adding to the atmosphere. The rotting vegetation under the surface of the wet ground produced lots of methane gas which sometimes self ignited as it bubbled up producing a bluish flame known locally as Jack o' Lantern and in other areas as Will-o-the Wisp. They were quite useful as they indicated areas of the marsh which were not safe to walk on in the dark. I never did get round to taking any pictures, sorry. I miss that house and the solitude of the marshes now I live in a city.
