I need make a 3-D animal cell. I want to use styrofoam but what should I use for the smooth/rough endoplasmic reticulum? Any suggestions for the project? How about when painting the styrofoam? I have heard not to use spray paint because it eats away the styrofoam. What should I use then?

If you can answer any of the above questions/ have any suggestions please answer!! Thank you so much! :)

I had to do the same project a long time ago. Paint the Styrofoam with acrylic paint and all the other stuff inside the animal call i used clay. Or the best one i saw at my school was a cake animal cell. Make a regular round cake and use frosty for the nucleus and all that other stuff i don't remember. I didn't do the cake but it was tasty :)

This requires more effort, and you would probably need to buy more supplies, but one of my friends made his in a clear plastic sphere that comes open, and he suspended the parts of a cell in this jelly stuff. You just need to sculpt the different parts with playdough, or something similar.

Good luck with your project!

Use latex paint. Paint stores have small sample containers that hold more than you need, in hundreds of colors, at a few dollars each.
